First day ... alone in Cardiff

It is my first morning in Cardiff Wales and I reviewed the first chapter of a book by Christine Painter called the Soul’s Slow Ripening.  It has 12 chapters of practices for seeking the sacred moments n our lives. The first chapter deals with crossing thresholds. By being aware of each threshold we cross, such as sleep to waking, moving from room to room, activity to activity, Painter encourages me to take time to reflect on what was before and what comes after. By doing that I will rekindle what is so often lost on our busy lives.  This will help me pause and center myself to be fully conscious in this journey.

One of my all-time favorite books was Anne Morrow Lindbergh‘s Gift from the Sea and I remember this quote: “what circus acts we women perform, every day of our lives.”   Through this pilgrimage, I hope to step aside from my busy life in order to enhance consciousness of the beautiful and challenging moments in my life.
